Name calling & Communication

Of most importance, a reminder that tomorrow is the final day for Advance Voting. After tomorrow, there is the General Election of October 22. I know each voter can find a non-voter and explain the importance of municipal elections. If tomorrow passes and you discover you can't vote on October 22, perhaps voting by Proxy is good for you, Where there is a will, there is a way! Next...

For the moment, I'll blame it on technology, but WHEN did we lose the ability and willingness to have meaningful dialogue? Communication is necessary if there is to be change, any type of change. People have forgotten the art of communication is TWO WAY! When one person presents something as fact, the other person has the absolute right to say CITE YOUR SOURCE. If I share my opinion, you have the right to ask how I arrived at my conclusion. Please note there is a difference between FACT and OPINION. Questions are not an attack. Questions are the basis of all great ideas, including democracy. Questions bring together good ideas and make them incredible.

My belief we need change, particularly in the Mayor's Office and Ward 10 is public. This is my personal feeling. I don't think a voter turnout of 37% (FACT) creates a representative council (Opinion). No matter what you read or what you are told, facts and opinions cannot be swapped. Conversation, communication and queries are how we determine if what we hear is FACT or FICTION. This is important when you evaluate the candidates.

So, when you're trying to convince somebody to become engaged in local politics, make them ask questions. Are they happy? Vote for the status quo. Do you want so see change? Look at the alternatives to the incumbents. Find the candidates who encourage your questions and give you answers. Just because you read it on the internet, doesn't make it so.

October 22, bring a friend and vote.
