RCP Review

What I most enjoy about this show is the sharing of a variety of opinions and ideals through the art of conversation. We don't disagree, in agreeable fashion, anymore. Good ideas become great when they are shared. Rose City Politics is a safe forum to question the status quo and evaluate new ideas being brought forward. Last night, their election round up missed the mark. They forgot the voice of the young people.

The first shot they delivered was their forecast of a LOWER voter than in 2014. I cannot accept this prediction. How can WE let the leadership of our city be elected by less than 37% of the electorate? Early voting could be down because there was one less Advance Poll. Low turnout could because there are others like me, that want to hear debates or attend forums and take the opportunities available to learn more about the candidates. The Ward 5, Ballots & Brews isn't until tomorrow, This will be a huge event. There is a strong chance the young people have yet to speak!

In addition to Ward 5, there is a race being wagered in Ward 8. I've heard lots of predictions of many different candidates. Lots of undecided voters wait right election day to visit the polls. While RCP was on-air, the Ward 1 candidates were at the college answering questions. The CAMPAIGNING is far from over.

With respect to each of the panelists, you can't evaluate campaigns until October 23. A candidate may not be running a traditional campaign but these aren't traditional times. Because these aren't campaigns you wouldn't run, you can't claim they are ineffective until the election is over.

The sitting Mayor is doing a lot of cheer leading. He seems content to insult and taunt Matt Marchand while not doing anything to change people's opinions of himself. Dilkens' campaign simply seems to be that choosing Marchand is too risky a choice for Windsor. And who said this man is liked? He is one of the most unpopular Mayors in the province.

Everyone should listen to the podcast. After you've listened, get mad, find a new voter and agree to vote on October 22. Not enough time was spent saying anything is possible if we can get the disenfranchised to the polls. Every panelist needs to pledge they are going to bring one person, somebody that didn't vote in 2014, to the ballot box on October 22. This is a small act that will make a huge impact. In the words of a friend to RCP, 'little things matter',

Listen. Get mad. Find a friend. Vote, October 22!!
